Professional Biography

Dustin Riley's Biography Photo My name is Dustin Riley and I am an experienced software engineer currently located in southern Oregon. The primary languages I have honed my skills with are Visual Basic, C#, JavaScript, JQuery, Ajax, Linq, T-SQL, XML, PHP, Python, CSS and HTML. I have some experience in the past writing code using MySQL, XSLT, C, C++, Unix, Java, Assembly and React. I have quite a bit of UI/IX experience as well. I've even dabbled in graphics creating several vectored business logos and artwork. While working independently as well as with a team of developers, I have become well versed using Team Foundation Servers, Tortoise SVN, Git and Github as well as Bitbucket and SourceTree as source control tools and as a means to perform code reviews. The computer industry is fun, innovative and exciting, however it is not where my professional career began.

My professional career began by me looking for a way to serve my country. I accomplished this by serving in the United States Air Force and in the Oregon Air National Guard as a Security Forces Police Officer for 13 years, then earned my commission and am currently serving as a Logistics Readiness Officer. My military career has enabled me to develop management and leadership skills by being an enlisted supervisor as well as a commissioned officer, mentoring others at different levels of their career. Some of the responsibilities I was trusted with in the Air Force were directly related to the protection of critical resources vital to national security. I performed these duties while in the roles of weapons storage area (WSA) supervisor, WSA alarm monitor/dispatcher and WSA entry controller. Other duties I performed included operating, maintaining and inspecting weapons, vehicles, facilities and communications equipment, conducting briefings and writing member evaluations and award packages. In addition, I conducted quarterly and annual adversarial sensor system testing and coordinated system maintenance with civil engineers. In order to pass on job knowledge to other Air Force members, I prepared operating instructions, checklists, lesson plans, training aids and standardization evaluation and certification procedures. One of my most proudest moments is when I was given the opportunity to serve outside of my country as part of a combat operation.

I am no stranger to working hard. I currently hold a full-time programming job, a part-time military career and am leading an online furniture retail store called Dashing Home Furnishings. The challenges are real, but the rewards are worth it! My advice to others is to work hard towards your goals and dreams and never give up.
